We had our second meeting last Thursday where we discussed the architecture of the control electronics. Figuring that events tend to be local (i.e. triggering a pop bumper’s switch causes only that pop bumper’s solenoid to fire) we have decided on a distributed approach. The playfield will have several Arduino UNOs each responsible for a small number of features. We’ve designed a shield with five MOSFETs and twelve GPIOs, and are in the process of writing a C++ library for managing them.
